BEAUTIFUL BELLIES DOULA SERVICES for Pregnancy and Birth
You are in the right place if you are looking for Doula Support Services for yourself, a loved one or just to gain more knowledge of the many wonderful support techniques available for moms-to-be. In addition to obstetrical care, and the love and companionship provided by their partners, women need consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort, encouragement, and respect.
Doula is a Greek word referring to an experienced woman who helps other women. The word has now come to mean a woman experienced in childbirth who provides this type of continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after childbirth. A doula's role is to support both the mother and father, and the presence of a doula has been proven to help fathers participate in the birth with more confidence.
Furthermore, when women receive continuous emotional support and physical comfort from a doula, their obstetric outcomes improve. Medical research has shown that birth with a doula can shorten first-time labours by an average of two hours, decrease the chance of Cesarean section deliveries by 50 percent, decrease the need for pain medications, and increase success in breastfeeding.

BEAUTIFUL BELLIES DOULA CARE PACKAGE
Women have complex needs during pregnancy and you need personalized care, based on your unique circumstances and your preferences. Your Doula will meet with you for one to two prenatal visits in the comfort of your own home. She will get to know you, and your expectations, feelings and thoughts regarding your baby's birth. Your Doula can help you re-frame your wishes into a Birth Plan, to better facilitate your communication with your care providers. Your Doula will also review the stages of labour and practice various comfort measures, relaxation and breathing techniques. She will help you prepare a post-partum plan to make the transition with your new baby smoother for the entire family.
You will receive phone and email support from the time of hire until four weeks following your babe's birth. We will be on call 24/7 from three weeks prior to your due date. Your Doula will provide you with continuous emotional, physical, and informational support from the beginning of your labour until after your baby is born. She will be there to work with you and your partner, to keep you calm and relaxed, never leaving your side. Your Doula will remain with you for up to two hours following your birth, until you and your babe are settled during the transition period. She can also provide initial breastfeeding support immediately following birth. Your Doula can help capture the happy moments with photographs or video, if you wish.
Your Doula will meet with you for a postpartum visit 3 to 10 days after your babe is born to check in on you and baby. This is a great opportunity to discuss your birth and your Doula's role, post-partum blues, or any other concerns you may have. Your Doula is also a great source of referral for other services, such as Lactation Consultants and community resources, when needed. Additional post-partum doula support can be arranged, if you require.
As Doulas, we do not give medical advice, perform medical tests, or administer medical treatments.
